Plant a Tree - Carbon Offset Program!
Carbon pollution is a serious threat to the Earth’s climate. Trees are one major natural way of cleaning carbon pollution from our air, sequestering it in the ground and helping to fight climate change.
The Abbotsford SPA recognizes that, although we make environmentally conscious decisions wherever possible, it is sometimes unavoidable to use products or services that will produce a by-product of greenhouse gas emissions.
We are therefore committed to offsetting these emissions through the planting of trees in our communities.
A tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and can sequester 1 ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old.
We offer you the opportunity to participate in our Carbon Offset Program through the purchase of a tree.
A carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases made in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere. Offsets are measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide-equivalent.

Purchase a Tree through the Abbotsford SPA!
In partnership with the City of Abbotsford Parks and Recreation department, we will plant trees annually along the Trans Canada Trail. This initiative is part of the mid-Fraser Valley Cluster of United Churches, including community members in Abbotsford, Aldergrove, Mission and points in between.
Trees are chosen by specialists with the City in order to ensure that they are native to the west coast and appropriate for the ecology of the areas being planted. Some examples of chosen tree varieties are firs, cedars, willow, dogwoods, and pine, among others.
The cost for one tree is $20. We offer the opportunity to purchase in increments of $5 towards a tree.
Each purchase will be sent a printable certificate of their contribution to the Abbotsford SPA Carbon Offset Program within 7 days.
