Join Spiritual Path to Awakening for a Gratitude Walk in the Forest, led by Fraser-Valley local & SPA Team Member Rev. Bill Booth. In these times of great concern for the natural environment, it is critical for us to all reconnect to the Land and the forest. A deep connection with our natural environment is a physical and spiritual activity.

Group Meeting in the Gladwin Heights United Church Parking Lot, before embarking on the walk together to Downes Bowl Park

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.



Gladwin Heights United Church is located at 3474 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 7B4. Free parking is available onsite for event attendees at the far end of the church parking lot, away from Gladwin Heights UC. The group will gather on the far side of the parking lot (near Old Riverside Rd) before embarking together on the walkthrough of Downes Bowl Park.


Please kindly come prepared with: a bottle of water & appropriate footwear to walk on gravel, hills, and dirt trails.


Rain or shine! This event is open to all members of the community, who are comfortable standing for long periods of time + walking approx. 5 km over the 2 hours, at a slow pace. Space is limited, please pre-register on the SPA website to reserve your spot. Upon registering, you will be prompted to download a digital document that contains all the event details. Please email if you have difficulty downloading the pdf.

About the Event Facilitator:

Bill is an ordained minister of the United Church of Canada.  He was raised in Maple Ridge and has strong roots in the wilderness of the Fraser Valley Mountains.  He moved from a career in electronics to ministry in the United Church in the mid-1990s seeking a more meaningful activity for his life’s work.  He attended Vancouver School of Theology graduating with a Masters of Divinity in 1999.  He served in the interior of BC, before returning to the coast in 2003.  He began serving at Trinity Memorial United in downtown Abbotsford in 2012.

Bill is passionate about long-distance walks and pilgrimages, and the emotional, psychological, and spiritual benefits of a long journey.  He has walked the Camino de Santiago twice, as well as the West Highlands Way in Scotland.  Bill also spent time on the isle of Iona living in community with the Iona community as a volunteer in 2009.

He is a spiritual healer and uses the Pure-energy method of healing.  He enjoys the interface of spirituality and science.
